Mechanical Lead

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Mechanical Lead to drive the design and delivery of mechanical equipment packages for mining and metals projects. You will work closely with interdisciplinary teams, clients, and equipment suppliers to validate and implement optimal technical solutions.

Key responsibilities

• Lead the design of mechanical equipment and systems, including pumps for water, slurries, solvents, pneumatic transport, and metal handling.
• Perform calculations and analyses to generate technical design recommendations and size mechanical equipment.
• Prepare material requests, specifications, data sheets, and other technical documentation for equipment acquisition.
• Evaluate suppliers, conduct technical tender assessments, and support procurement decisions.
• Coordinate with mechanical designers to produce drawings that meet project standards.
• Collaborate with other engineering disciplines to ensure integrated project delivery.

Required profile

• Proven ability to lead interdisciplinary meetings with clients and suppliers.
• Strong leadership and management capacity in a project environment.
• Experience delivering mechanical designs for mining or related industrial sectors.
• Excellent communication skills for technical problem solving and recommendation delivery.
