OpenStack Site Reliability Engineer

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Site Reliability Engineer with deep expertise in OpenStack and private‑cloud environments. The role is fully remote and focuses on keeping production platforms stable, performant, and secure while working closely with engineering teams and customers.

Key responsibilities

• Provide 24/7 production support and troubleshoot complex issues in OpenStack and Linux environments.
• Manage and maintain core OpenStack services such as Nova, Neutron, Cinder, and Keystone.
• Perform root‑cause analysis, drive long‑term fixes, and participate in incident management and on‑call rotations.
• Monitor system performance, availability, and reliability, and implement optimisations.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to deliver fixes, improvements, and automation.
• Communicate technical findings and recommendations clearly to customers via calls and written reports.

Required profile

• 7+ years of hands‑on experience in Linux system administration, networking, and storage.
• Proven track record operating production OpenStack clouds.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving abilities in high‑pressure environments.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for customer interaction.
• Self‑motivated and comfortable working in a distributed remote team.

Required skills

• Linux internals, kernel tuning, filesystem and disk management.
• Partitions, LVM, SCSI multipath, basic Ceph knowledge.
• DHCP, DNS, VLANs, network bonding, routing concepts.
• OpenStack services: Nova, Neutron, Cinder, Keystone.
• Root‑cause analysis and incident management.
• Monitoring tools: Prometheus, Grafana.
• Scripting in Python or Go.
• Basic understanding of Kubernetes concepts.
