Senior Counsel – Legal (Chile)

About the role

Mastercard is seeking a Senior Counsel to join its South LAC Legal Team, based in Santiago, Chile. The role will support the company’s operations across Chile, Paraguay, Bolivia and Peru, providing strategic and tactical legal advice while ensuring compliance with local laws and Mastercard policies.

Key responsibilities

• Negotiate, draft, and review contracts for the assigned clusters and provide legal counsel to internal client groups.
• Collaborate with South LAC Division Senior Counsel and other LAC Region Counsels to support cluster staff.
• Ensure compliance with applicable laws while maintaining Mastercard’s operational flexibility.
• Prepare legal documents, filings, registrations, and respond to regulatory inquiries.
• Manage the contract administration process, create templates, and maintain contract files.
• Liaise with regional headquarters and external counsel on corporate book maintenance and subsidiary matters.
• Assist with trademark and intellectual‑property issues in coordination with the LAC Region Headquarters and Purchase Headquarters Law Department.
• Coordinate intra‑company activities and ensure adherence to Mastercard bylaws, rules, policies, and procedures.
• Supervise and coordinate outside counsel as needed.

Required profile

• Solid experience practicing law at a major Chilean or U.S. law firm.
• Ability to think strategically and act tactically to meet business objectives.
• Strong understanding of corporate, contract, and intellectual‑property law in the South LAC region.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with cross‑functional teams.
