About the role

Canals builds software for wholesale distributors, helping them operate more efficiently through automation and AI. As a senior software engineer, you will lead backend development for its platform, focusing on building scalable, high‑performance systems that support a growing customer base across the Americas.

Key responsibilities

• Develop backend services with emphasis on scalability, performance, and reliability.
• Own large, complex projects from planning through deployment.
• Collaborate with product and customer teams to align engineering with business needs.
• Balance hands‑on coding with guiding the team’s technical direction.

Required profile

• Senior‑level experience as a backend engineer building scalable, high‑performance systems.
• Proven ability to work independently in a fast‑paced, product‑focused environment.
• Comfort taking ownership of deliverables and ensuring high‑quality outcomes.
• Capability to guide and unblock other engineers through code reviews and architectural feedback.
• Experience in high‑growth startups or small teams is a plus.
