Finance Planning & Reporting Specialist

About the role

The Finance Planning & Reporting Specialist supports BHP Chile’s finance function by delivering data‑driven solutions that enhance operational and financial performance. Reporting to the Manager of Planning & Reporting for the Escondida operation, the role focuses on budgeting, forecasting, and month‑end reporting while driving performance against benchmarks.

Key responsibilities

• Collect and process inputs for the 2‑Year Budget, quarterly forecasts and month‑end actuals, ensuring alignment with operational targets.
• Analyse results to identify variances, improvement opportunities and recommend corrective actions.
• Utilise models, systems and tools to increase efficiency and standardise finance processes.
• Collaborate with finance business partners to develop robust functional plans and drive performance to benchmarks.
• Present findings, ideas and recommendations confidently to internal stakeholders.
• Provide comprehensive data analysis to support value identification across assets.
• Lead process‑improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and standardisation.
• Deliver accurate financial analysis for tactical and strategic decision‑making.

Required profile

• Professional degree in Commercial Engineering, Business Administration or Industrial Civil Engineering.
• Strong analytical mindset with a focus on continuous improvement and change initiatives.
• Excellent stakeholder management skills in a complex, global environment.
• Ability to quickly learn and adopt new systems and processes.
• Intermediate or higher level of English.

Required skills

• Advanced Excel
• Knowledge of SAP (desirable)
