Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner (General Surgery & ENT)

About the role

This permanent position with NHS Lanarkshire offers an experienced Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner the chance to lead scrubbing teams in General Surgery and ENT, while contributing to the planning of the new Monklands Hospital.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient care needs and develop, implement and evaluate care programmes.
• Initiate and manage advanced care requirements within the peri‑operative environment.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and multidisciplinary team members.
• Monitor and report standards of care against departmental policies, procedures and professional guidelines.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• SVQ III or Diploma in Operating Department Practice.
• Degree‑level education (or working towards).
• Post‑graduate expertise in the relevant specialty demonstrating breadth of knowledge.
• Comprehensive knowledge of clinical guidelines and standards.

Required skills

• Scrubbing and aseptic technique.
• Peri‑operative patient assessment.
• General surgery procedural knowledge.
• ENT surgical procedural knowledge.
• Care planning and implementation.
