Senior Mechanical Engineer

About the role

Bechtel is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to support mining and metals projects in Santiago. The role involves field investigations, client interviews, and leading the design, development, modification, and evaluation of mechanical components and processes.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct field investigations and client interviews to define work scope and cost estimates for mechanical aspects.
• Evaluate, select, and apply standard mechanical engineering methods, techniques, and procedures for project assignments.
• Prepare original designs, layouts, detailed drawings, and specifications.
• Design, develop, modify, and evaluate mechanical components and processes using Engineering Department Procedures (EDPs), design standards, and Bechtel Standard Application Programs (BSAPs).
• Assist in the preparation of conceptual studies, designs, reports, and proposals.
• Coordinate mechanical engineering efforts with specialty groups, other engineering disciplines, clients, vendors, contractors, and construction teams.
• Provide guidance and technical assistance to other mechanical engineering personnel when delegated.

Required profile

• Mechanical engineering background with experience in design and analysis of mechanical components.
• Proven ability to conduct field investigations and perform cost estimating for mechanical work.
• Familiarity with engineering department procedures, design standards, and project coordination.
• Experience working on mining or metals projects is advantageous.
