DWDM / Optical Transmission Engineer – Deployment & Delivery

About the role

Huawei Technologies is looking for a DWDM / Optical Transmission Engineer to join its Carrier Network team in Santiago, Chile. You will play a key part in designing, deploying and optimizing high‑capacity backbone and metro optical networks for telecom and enterprise customers.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with presales to design and dimension advanced DWDM/OTN solutions that meet customer capacity, reach and resilience requirements.
• Lead deployment, configuration and commissioning of DWDM/OTN platforms and optical network management systems.
• Perform system testing, including optical power‑budget validation, BER testing and service turn‑up, and manage customer acceptance.
• Provide expert troubleshooting and proactive optimization of the optical layer.
• Act as technical advisor to customers, produce high‑quality documentation (HLD, LLD, migration plans, as‑built) and deliver knowledge‑transfer sessions.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of hands‑on experience designing, deploying or operating high‑capacity DWDM/OTN networks in a carrier or service‑provider environment.
• Strong background in customer‑facing technical roles such as presales support, delivery engineering or senior network operations.
• Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications, Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• Excellent analytical, communication and project coordination abilities.
