Mental Health Nurse – Inpatient Ward (Glasgow)

About the role

You will join the Renfrewshire Mental Health Inpatient Wards, providing specialist nursing care to adults and older adults across three hospital sites. The role involves working within a multidisciplinary team to support patients with a wide range of mental health conditions.

Key responsibilities

• Act as the Named Nurse for a defined patient group within the multidisciplinary team.
• Conduct the full nursing process: assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of care.
• Perform risk assessments and contribute to risk management plans in line with NHSGGC policies.
• Deliver personalised nursing care addressing both mental and physical health needs.
• Identify and respond to health‑promotion needs, aiming to improve overall well‑being.

Required profile

• Registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) and hold a current UK NMC PIN.
• Minimum six months experience as a Band 5 nurse.
• Membership of the PVG Scheme and successful Disclosure Scotland checks.
• Ability to work across Dykebar, Royal Alexandra, and Leverndale hospitals.
• Knowledge and experience of caring for people with mental health illnesses.
