Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner

About the role

The Advanced Paediatric Nurse Practitioner will join the multidisciplinary team in the Paediatric Department at Victoria Hospital, supporting the Respiratory Service and delivering high‑quality care to children and young people across acute and outpatient settings.

Key responsibilities

• Provide expert clinical assessment and management for paediatric patients, including those in the High Dependency Unit and Ambulatory Care Unit.
• Support the middle‑grade tier of the medical trainee rota, offering guidance and mentorship.
• Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to develop and implement care plans.
• Participate in the delivery of services within the Acute Paediatric In‑patient Ward, Short‑Stay Assessment Area, and Paediatric Out‑patient Department.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and contribute to service improvement initiatives.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with advanced practice qualifications in paediatrics.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong communication, decision‑making, prioritisation and problem‑solving abilities.
• Commitment to safeguarding, including membership of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

Required skills

• Advanced clinical knowledge in paediatric nursing.
• Experience with respiratory care in a paediatric setting.
• Proficiency in acute paediatric assessment and care delivery.
