Clinical Pharmacist – University Hospital Monklands

About the role

The Clinical Pharmacist will join the multidisciplinary team at University Hospital Monklands, delivering specialist pharmaceutical care across Infectious Diseases, Renal Medicine, Surgery, Anaesthetics and General Medicine. You will ensure safe, effective, evidence‑based medication use while supporting education, audit and service development.

Key responsibilities

• Provide patient‑centred specialist pharmaceutical care in designated clinical areas.
• Participate in consultant ward rounds and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Deliver patient education on safe and effective use of medicines and devices.
• Collaborate with the wider pharmacy team to develop and audit services.
• Contribute to the RPS core advanced pharmacy curriculum.

Required profile

• Master of Pharmacy degree.
• Registered member of the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Independent prescribing qualification or commitment to obtain it.
• Post‑registration training in clinical pharmacy (e.g., PRF or 1st year clinical diploma).
• Relevant post‑registration experience in a clinical pharmacy setting.

Required skills

• Ability to monitor therapeutic regimens for effectiveness and toxicity.
