Director of Hospital Services

About the role

This senior executive position leads the Acute Division at University Hospital Hairmyres, overseeing strategic and operational management of Acute Services across NHS Lanarkshire. The role drives transformational change to improve quality of care, patient safety, and patient‑centred services.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver national planned and unscheduled care targets.
• Manage the hospital’s operational budget.
• Ensure regulatory compliance with Health Improvement Scotland, Audit Scotland and other bodies.
• Establish robust risk‑management and patient‑experience frameworks.
• Provide visible leadership across clinical, financial and staff governance.
• Build and sustain relationships with senior clinicians, staff representatives, MPs, MSPs, public partnership forums and the third sector.

Required profile

• Graduate with a proven track record in senior management, preferably within the NHS.
• Relevant postgraduate qualification is preferred, though equivalent experience is valued.
• Dynamic, inspiring leader with credibility to deliver lasting change in a complex acute hospital environment.

• Executive Grade D salary band: £93,119 to £119,295 per annum.
