Directorate Support Manager – Medical

About the role

The Directorate Support Manager – Medical provides high‑quality business and operational service support to a clinical sub‑division within NHS Lanarkshire. The role contributes to strategy implementation and ensures continuous development and improvement of services.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain a robust administration system to deliver an effective secretariat service for the clinical sub‑division.
• Plan, control and manage the A&C and supplies budgets on a monthly basis, keeping finance within agreed resources and identifying cost pressures.
• Produce detailed reports on patient activity, revenue budgets, waiting times and workforce utilisation to highlight trends.
• Act as authorised signatory for travel claims, duty sheets, stationery and HR forms for A&C staff.

Required profile

• Degree level education in business management or equivalent experience.
• Post‑graduate expertise in business/operational management or health service area demonstrating breadth of knowledge.
• Evidence of continuous professional development.
• Effective leadership skills to manage service delivery, motivate staff and work autonomously.
