Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist – Surgery & Anaesthetics

About the role

This permanent position at University Hospital Monklands, part of NHS Lanarkshire, is for a Highly Specialist Clinical Pharmacist focused on surgery and anaesthetics. You will join a multidisciplinary team delivering high‑quality pharmaceutical care in ICU, surgical wards and related clinics.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and develop clinical pharmacy services for the surgical and theatres directorates.
• Prescribe and manage parenteral nutrition as a key member of the Nutritional Support Team.
• Introduce and run pharmacist‑led pre‑assessment and INSPIRE clinics.
• Provide education, supervision and mentorship to pharmacy under‑graduates, trainees and pharmacists.
• Act as a role model, ensuring safe, effective and cost‑efficient use of medicines.
• Work Monday‑Friday, 08:30‑17:00, on a fixed‑term 12‑month contract.

Required profile

• Qualified clinical pharmacist with experience in surgical and anaesthetic settings.
• Demonstrated ability to lead multidisciplinary pharmacy services.
• Willingness to supervise and train pharmacy staff and students.
• Must have written agreement from current line manager if applying as a secondment.
