Lead Advanced Nurse Practitioner – General Surgery

About the role

This senior position offers an experienced Advanced Nurse Practitioner the chance to combine autonomous clinical practice with strategic leadership within NHS Fife’s General Surgery service. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team to deliver safe, high‑quality care across elective and urgent surgical pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Provide autonomous patient care from assessment through diagnosis, treatment and discharge.
• Lead the development and supervision of the ANP workforce, ensuring consistent standards of advanced practice.
• Drive service redesign, quality improvement and audit initiatives to enhance patient flow and outcomes.
• Support staff through appraisal, mentorship and continuous professional development.

Required profile

• Advanced Nurse Practitioner with a Master’s qualification in Advanced Practice or equivalent.
• Independent prescriber (V300) status.
• Significant clinical experience in General Surgery or a related specialty.
• Proven leadership experience with the ability to influence practice and support staff development.
