Mints Major/Minor Injury Practitioner – Emergency Department

About the role

The Mints Major/Minor Injury Practitioner will join a multidisciplinary Emergency Department team, providing high‑quality assessment, treatment and discharge for patients with minor injuries. You will work closely with senior clinicians to ensure safe and efficient care pathways.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patients, initiate investigations and determine differential diagnoses.
• Develop, implement and evaluate care programmes for minor injuries.
• Initiate treatment, discharge patients when appropriate, and refer complex cases.
• Review treatment plans created by less experienced staff and provide clinical guidance.
• Supervise and develop junior staff, especially in the absence of the Team Leader.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, carers and the multidisciplinary team.
• Collaborate with the Unit Manager to set, monitor and evaluate standards of care.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with current NMC revalidation.
• Degree‑level education (or working towards).
• Graduate Certificate in Urgent Care or equivalent.
• Qualification as a Mints Major/Minor Injury Practitioner or Emergency Nurse Practitioner.
• Post‑graduate expertise in the relevant specialty demonstrating breadth of knowledge.
