Nurse Practitioner – Pre‑assessment Suite (Part‑time)

About the role

An exciting part‑time opportunity exists for a Nurse Practitioner within the Pre‑assessment Suite at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy. You will work autonomously to assess, optimise and prepare elective surgical and orthopaedic patients for admission, supporting the Senior Charge Nurse and multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and physical examinations of pre‑operative patients.
• Manage ongoing medical needs and optimise health status before surgery.
• Collaborate with consultant anaesthetists, surgeons and ward staff to plan admissions and discharge pathways.
• Maintain accurate patient records and contribute to waiting‑list management.
• Develop and expand the nurse practitioner role in line with service demands.

Required profile

• Significant experience in surgical or orthopaedic nursing settings.
• Senior Band 5 nurse or equivalent with strong clinical expertise.
• Commitment to continuous professional development and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Willingness to become a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

Required skills

• Advanced Clinical Examination (or willingness to undertake).
• Non‑Medical Prescribing qualification (or willingness to undertake).
