Nurse Practitioner / Staff Nurse – Pre‑assessment Suite (Fixed‑Term)

About the role

This position supports the Senior Charge Nurse in the Pre‑assessment Suite at Victoria Hospital, preparing patients for elective surgery. It is a fixed‑term, nine‑month role covering maternity leave, primarily Monday to Friday.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct comprehensive medical assessments and physical examinations of pre‑operative patients.
• Manage ongoing medical needs and optimise patients' health before surgery.
• Collaborate with Consultant Anaesthetists, Surgeons and other Nurse Practitioners.
• Coordinate admission planning with surgical, orthopaedic wards and theatres.
• Develop and expand the role to meet service demands.

Required profile

• Qualified Nurse Practitioner (Band 6) or Staff Nurse (Band 5) with experience in surgical/orthopaedic settings.
• Completed Advanced Clinical Examination and Non‑Medical Prescribing courses (for NP applicants).
• Strong communication, organisational abilities and the capacity to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to continuous professional development.
