Pharmacy Technician – Annex 21 Training Programme

About the role

This position is for a Pharmacy Technician joining NHS Lanarkshire under the Annex 21 training programme. While completing the training you will be paid at 70% of the top of Band 4 and, on successful completion, progress to the full Band 4 salary scale. The role is based in a hospital pharmacy environment and involves rotating through designated areas to support high‑quality pharmaceutical services.

Key responsibilities

• Dispense in‑patient, out‑patient, controlled‑drug, clinical‑trial and clozapine prescriptions following Standard Operating Procedures.
• Perform final accuracy checks on dose‑banded aseptic products supplied by external manufacturers.
• Conduct final accuracy checks on prescriptions and indents prepared by other staff.
• Retrieve, reconcile and record patients' medication information.
• Participate in education and training activities to maintain GPhC registration and professional development.

Required profile

• Diploma or SQA National Certificate in Pharmacy Services (or equivalent) enabling registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
• Registered Pharmacy Technician with the GPhC.
• Commitment to revalidation and maintaining a professional development portfolio.
