Pharmacy Technician I – Inpatient

About the role

The Inpatient Pharmacy Technician team at Liberty Hospital supports medication distribution, compounding, and packaging for all inpatient units. This entry‑level position ensures that nurses and other providers receive the correct medications promptly and safely.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare medications for dispensing with accuracy, following established safety protocols and completing annual sterile compounding competency.
• Pull and stock medications in Automated Dispensing System (ADS) machines, perform inventory counts, resolve discrepancies, and maintain distribution records.
• Restock pharmacy inventory, rotate stock, remove expiring items, and process orders from wholesalers.
• Operate pharmacy computer systems independently, performing required inspections and troubleshooting common issues such as jammed printers.
• Maintain required logs and records, ensuring compliance with medication safety practices including barcode scanning and double‑checking labels.
• Provide courteous service to patients, caregivers, and staff, directing clinical questions to pharmacists.

Required profile

• High School diploma or GED.
• Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) through the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board.
• No prior experience required; ability to perform professional and technical competencies of the inpatient pharmacy.
