Registered Nurse – Medical/Gastroenterology

About the role

As a Registered Nurse in the Medical/Gastroenterology department at NHS Lanarkshire, you will join a multidisciplinary team to assess patient care needs, develop and implement care programmes, and ensure high‑quality delivery without direct supervision.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate patient care programmes.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and the multidisciplinary team.
• Direct, coordinate and supervise staff, including registered/unregistered staff and student nurses.
• Provide cover for senior charge nurse or team leader as needed.
• Work a rotating schedule of two 11.5‑hour shifts and one 10.27‑hour shift per week.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• Strong team‑working ability and initiative.
• Effective listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Required skills

• Valid NMC registration.
• Knowledge of relevant national and local policies, legislation and procedures.
