Registered Nurse – Medicine for Older Adults

About the role

Join a multidisciplinary team within NHS Lanarkshire to provide high‑quality nursing care for older adults in the Medicine for Older Adults specialty. You will assess patients' care needs, develop and implement tailored care programmes, and ensure safe, compassionate delivery of services.

Key responsibilities

• Assess, plan, develop, implement and evaluate care programmes for older adult patients.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives and the wider multidisciplinary team.
• Adhere to national and local policies, legislation, procedures and the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
• Supervise and mentor registered, unregistered staff and student nurses as required.
• Provide cover for senior charge nurse or team leader to ensure seamless ward operation.
• Organise own workload and that of junior staff, applying strong time‑management skills.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• Ability to work independently and use own initiative.
• Excellent team‑working, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Effective listening and the capacity to manage competing priorities.
• Working knowledge of basic information technology.
