Registered Nurse - Mental Health

About the role

The NHS Lanarkshire Mental Health team is seeking a Registered Nurse to deliver high‑quality care for patients with mental health disorders, substance misuse, learning disabilities and co‑morbid conditions. Working under the supervision of senior nursing staff, you will contribute to person‑centred assessment, care planning and intervention across a range of clinical settings.

Key responsibilities

• Apply the Nursing Process framework to assess, plan, implement and evaluate patient care.
• Deliver direct nursing care to individuals with mental health, substance misuse and learning disability needs.
• Supervise and appraise nursing students and healthcare support workers within the service.
• Act as Named Nurse (for nurses with ≥2 years post‑registration experience), coordinating a small team of junior staff and covering charge duties when required.
• Engage patients, families and carers in shared decision‑making and risk management.
• Provide escort and safe intervention for patients as directed by senior staff.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (NMC‑registered) with experience in mental health or related specialties.
• Minimum of 2 years post‑registration experience for Named Nurse responsibilities (optional).
• Ability to work under clinical supervision and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams.
