Registered Nurse / Operating Department Practitioner – Theatre

About the role

Join NHS Lanarkshire’s multidisciplinary theatre team as a Registered Nurse/Operating Department Practitioner. You will play a pivotal role in assessing patient care needs, developing and delivering high‑quality care programmes, and ensuring safe, efficient theatre operations.

Key responsibilities

• Assess patient care needs and develop, implement, and evaluate care programmes.
• Maintain effective communication with patients, relatives, and the multidisciplinary team.
• Adhere to departmental policies, procedures, standards and professional codes (NMC/HPC & AODP).
• Report outcomes to senior staff for monitoring and quality improvement.
• Supervise and support less‑experienced staff and students, providing guidance and educational support.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with a valid NMC registration.
• SVQ Level III, Diploma or equivalent in Operating Department Practice.
• Strong team‑working ability and initiative.
• Excellent listening, communication and interpersonal skills.
• Effective time‑management and organisational abilities.

Required skills

• Basic information technology proficiency.
