Registered Nurse – Patient Care Services (Full-Time Days) – Gastroenterology

About the role

The Registered Nurse will coordinate patient care services on a gastroenterology unit, working full‑time day shifts. This position blends clinical expertise with leadership, ensuring safe, compassionate, and efficient care for a diverse patient population.

Key responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of the gastroenterology unit, acting as a clinical resource and role model for the care team.
• Oversee patient‑care standards for the designated shift and facilitate patient flow across admissions, transfers, and discharge.
• Manage staffing schedules, authorize overtime, and collaborate with the Nurse Manager on payroll and Smart Square adjustments.
• Support professional development, Magnet initiatives, and Shared Governance through mentorship and council participation.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to align care plans, address performance improvement, and resolve physician or patient concerns.

Required profile

• Graduate of an accredited nursing program with a current RN license.
• Experience in acute care, preferably gastroenterology or similar specialty.
• Strong assessment skills to address physical, psychosocial, and cultural patient needs.
• Ability to lead, mentor, and evaluate nursing staff performance.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Smart Square scheduling system.
