Senior Nurse (Fixed‑term) – University Hospital Monklands

About the role

The University Hospital Monklands is seeking an experienced Senior Nurse to act as the professional and clinical lead for nursing and midwifery services across NHS Lanarkshire. This fixed‑term, part‑time position (28.8 hrs/week) offers the opportunity to influence clinical standards, audit practice and support multidisciplinary teams.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and implement strategies and operational plans to meet evolving service requirements.
• Deputise for the Associate Director of Nursing or Chief of Nursing/Midwifery Services, providing expert advice to senior leadership.
• Lead clinical audit, research activity and governance initiatives, ensuring standards are evaluated, implemented and monitored.
• Coach, develop and advise nursing and midwifery staff on professional clinical issues.
• Collaborate with patients, carers and staff to assess and meet healthcare needs.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse, Midwife or ODP with a valid NMC/HCPC registration.
• Education at Masters level or working towards it.
• Demonstrated knowledge of NHS Scotland’s Leadership Qualities framework.
• Significant professional, leadership and managerial experience within the relevant specialty.
• Extensive knowledge of clinical practice, safety and governance.
