Software Engineer – Data Acquisition

About the role

Checkr is seeking a Software Engineer to join its Data Acquisition team in Santiago. The role focuses on building and operating reliable, scalable data pipelines that ingest background‑check data from government and third‑party sources. You will collaborate with engineers in Chile and the US on distributed systems that power millions of hiring decisions.

Key responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, and monitor data acquisition platform features in Python, emphasizing reliability, scalability, and observability.
• Participate in architecture decisions, write design documents, and guide technical direction for the team’s platforms.
• Enhance platform visibility through structured logging, metrics, and alerting using Datadog and OpenTelemetry.
• Work closely with cross‑location engineers, contributing to async‑first planning and execution.
• Take part in on‑call rotations and own end‑to‑end service accountability.

Required profile

• 4+ years of software engineering experience with a strong backend focus.
• Advanced written and verbal English communication skills.
• Available to work in a hybrid format at the Santiago office.
• Ownership mindset, bias for action, and ability to thrive in ambiguous environments.
