Specialist Pharmacist – Aseptic & Clinical

About the role

This permanent position is based at Victoria Hospital and Whyteman’s Brae Hospital in Kirkcaldy. The role is split evenly between clinical pharmacy and aseptic services, offering the chance to develop expertise across a range of specialties while working within a multidisciplinary team.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical pharmacy services to in‑patient and out‑patient populations, including participation in pharmacist‑led clinics.
• Act as Deputy Accountable Pharmacist in the aseptic unit, supporting quality assurance and service transformation.
• Collaborate with the wider pharmacy team, MDT members and external quality assurance bodies.
• Contribute to service development projects and national aseptic pharmacy initiatives.
• Provide on‑call, evening, weekend and public‑holiday coverage as part of the pharmacy rota.

Required profile

• Motivated, patient‑centred pharmacist with a passion for both clinical and aseptic practice.
• Independent Prescribing qualification is desirable; training will be supported for those without it.
• Previous hospital experience is not essential – comprehensive training will be provided.

Required skills

• Independent prescribing (or willingness to obtain qualification).
• Aseptic processing and sterile product preparation.
• Clinical pharmacy practice across multiple specialties.
• Quality assurance and service development in a hospital setting.
