Specialist Physiotherapist – Medicine for Older Adults

About the role

We are looking for a motivated Specialist Physiotherapist to join the Medicine of the Older Adult service at NHS Lanarkshire. You will work within a multidisciplinary team to deliver person‑centred rehabilitation for frail and complex older patients.

Key responsibilities

• Assess and treat patients with frailty, deconditioning, delirium and multi‑morbidity.
• Design and deliver goal‑oriented physiotherapy interventions to maximise independence.
• Support safe and timely discharge in line with Discharge without Delay principles.
• Supervise and delegate tasks to junior staff, ensuring best practice.
• Contribute to quality‑improvement projects and pathway development for older adults.
• Participate in departmental training and personal development programmes.

Required profile

• Registered Physiotherapist with a valid HCPC registration.
• Degree‑level education, with postgraduate expertise in a relevant specialty.
• Experience in acute care or rehabilitation settings, preferably with older adult populations.
• Ability to assess capacity, obtain valid consent and work within a legal framework.
• Professional and legal accountability for all aspects of patient care.
