Specialist Rotational Pharmacist – Surgery & Planned Care

About the role

This is a specialist pharmacist rotational programme based at Victoria Hospital and Whyteman’s Brae Hospital in Kirkcaldy. The post offers nine‑month rotations across surgical and planned‑care specialties, allowing you to develop clinical pharmacy skills before choosing a long‑term focus.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver pharmacy services to in‑patient and out‑patient teams across General Surgery, Cancer Services, Orthopaedic Surgery and Rheumatology.
• Participate in pharmacist‑led clinics and support multidisciplinary decision‑making.
• Contribute to service development projects and help shape specialist pharmacy pathways.
• Work closely with pharmacy technicians, foundation pharmacists and senior clinical pharmacists.

Required profile

• Motivated, patient‑centred and passionate about advancing clinical pharmacy.
• Willing to undertake training and supervised practice for independent prescribing if not already qualified.
• Previous hospital pharmacy experience is not essential; comprehensive training will be provided.

Required skills

• Independent Prescribing qualification (desirable, with training support if needed).
