Specialist Rotational Pharmacist – Surgery & Planned Care

About the role

This is a specialist rotational pharmacist position within NHS Fife, based at Victoria Hospital and Whyteman’s Brae Hospital in Kirkcaldy. The role offers nine‑month rotations across surgical and planned care specialties, providing exposure to both inpatient and outpatient environments.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver clinical pharmacy services in General Surgery, Cancer Services, Orthopaedic Surgery and Rheumatology.
• Participate in pharmacist‑led clinics and multidisciplinary team meetings.
• Support and lead service development projects and contribute to the evolution of pharmacy practice.
• Work closely with pharmacy technicians, foundation pharmacists, senior clinical pharmacists and other MDT members.

Required profile

• Motivated, patient‑centred pharmacist with a passion for developing clinical expertise.
• Willingness to rotate through multiple specialties and adapt to fast‑paced ward environments.
• Ability to obtain Independent Prescribing qualification (support provided if not already qualified).
• Commitment to becoming a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

Required skills

• Independent Prescribing (desirable, training supported).
