Support Medical Secretary – Acute Services

About the role

We are looking for a motivated and organised Support Medical Secretary to join the Acute Services Medical Directorate. The role provides comprehensive administrative and secretarial support to a range of clinical specialties within NHS Scotland.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver day‑to‑day administrative and secretarial assistance to clinical teams.
• Perform accurate audio typing of medical documents.
• Maintain and update records using Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Assist with the preparation of correspondence, reports and meeting minutes.
• Support the use of NHS systems and processes where required.

Required profile

• Proven secretarial or administrative experience.
• Excellent communication, organisational and problem‑solving abilities.
• Competent audio typist with high accuracy.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Flexible, reliable and able to work independently or as part of a team.
• English language proficiency sufficient for safe and effective performance.
• Willingness to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.
