About the role

The National Treatment Centre Fife is seeking a dedicated Theatre Practitioner to join its orthopaedic surgery team. Working in a purpose‑built, high‑throughput facility, you will support hip and knee replacement procedures and help reduce the backlog of planned care across Scotland.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the surgical team in a fast‑paced operating theatre environment.
• Prepare and maintain a sterile field, including instrument handling and patient positioning.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary colleagues to ensure smooth patient flow and high‑quality care.
• Participate in the Advanced Scrub Practitioner and NES Anaesthetic Competency programmes.
• Adhere to all health and safety, infection control, and regulatory standards.

Required profile

• Qualified nurse or Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) with a commitment to ongoing professional development.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work cohesively within a multidisciplinary team.
• Willingness to work flexible hours across four days, Monday to Saturday, and across multiple sites in Fife.
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom and willingness to join the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme.

Required skills

• Proficiency in aseptic technique and surgical instrumentation.
• Understanding of orthopaedic procedures, particularly hip and knee replacements.
• Ability to follow clinical protocols and documentation standards.
