Locum Consultant in Vascular Surgery

About the role

We are seeking a senior vascular surgeon to join the South West Scotland Vascular Network on a six‑month locum basis. Based at University Hospital Hairmyres, the role will support a high‑volume service serving 1.2 million people across NHS Lanarkshire, NHS Ayrshire and Arran and NHS Dumfries & Galloway.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver elective and urgent vascular and endovascular procedures in a state‑of‑the‑art hybrid theatre.
• Provide clinic and operative coverage at University Hospital Hairmyres and, as required, at University Hospital Crosshouse or University Hospital Ayr.
• Collaborate with interventional radiology, vascular laboratory and multidisciplinary team members.
• Contribute to service development, quality improvement and research initiatives.

Required profile

• Full GMC registration and a current consultant post‑holder licence.
• Experience in both open and endovascular vascular surgery.
• Willingness to work across multiple NHS sites within the network.
• Commitment to teaching, audit and clinical governance.

Required skills

• EVAR, FEVAR, TEVAR, CERAB procedures.
• Deep venous interventions.
• Open aortic and carotid surgery.
• Lower limb revascularisation.
• Renal access techniques.
