Locum Consultant – Otology (12‑month)

About the role

The University Hospital Monklands is seeking a Locum Consultant in Otology for an initial 12‑month period. The role involves delivering specialist otology services across NHS Lanarkshire and participating in the on‑call rota.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality otology clinical care and surgical interventions.
• Participate in the departmental on‑call rota.
• Contribute to teaching undergraduate and postgraduate students.
• Engage in research, quality‑improvement projects and leadership activities.
• Organise and deliver national and international ENT courses.

Required profile

• Fully qualified Consultant in Otology (ENT) eligible for locum work.
• Experience in a multidisciplinary ENT department.
• Commitment to teaching, research and service development.
• Willingness to work flexibly, including on‑call duties.

Required skills

• Otology clinical expertise.
• ENT surgical skills, including temporal bone dissection and endoscopic ear surgery.
• Head and neck anatomy knowledge.
• Emergency ENT management.
• Quality improvement and patient safety methodologies.
• Medical education and research capabilities.
