Neonatal Transitional Care Staff Nurse (Band 5) – Part Time

About the role

This part‑time Band 5 Staff Nurse position supports neonatal babies and their families across both hospital and community settings in Kirkcaldy. The role rotates between the Transitional Care unit and the Community Neonatal Liaison Nurse service, offering a varied and rewarding experience.

Key responsibilities

• Provide high‑quality, family‑centred care to neonates in a Level 2 NICU and in the community.
• Monitor and support babies requiring additional observation while remaining with their families.
• Collaborate with the Transitional Care team and Community Neonatal Liaison team to ensure seamless post‑discharge support.
• Deliver care based on up‑to‑date evidence‑based practice.
• Undertake the Transitional and Special Care Neonatal Course to enhance clinical expertise.

Required profile

• Qualified Registered Child Branch nurse with a recognised clinical qualification.
• Enthusiastic, motivated and able to work both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Excellent communication skills and a holistic, family‑centred approach.
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence‑based neonatal care.
• Flying Start programme commenced after qualification and willingness to join the PVG Scheme.
• Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
