Charge Nurse – Acute Cardiology & General Medicine

About the role

The Charge Nurse position at Victoria Hospital, Kirkcaldy, supports the delivery of acute cardiology and general medicine care across Ward 21 (CCU) and Ward 23. The role offers senior registered nurses the chance to develop clinical leadership while contributing to service improvement and patient‑centred care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide clinical leadership and support to the Senior Charge Nurse and the Charge Nurse team.
• Oversee patient flow, capacity and safety across both wards, ensuring timely access to the cardiology floor.
• Drive change initiatives and service‑improvement projects within the acute setting.
• Maintain high standards of care for patients with acute and chronic cardiac and medical conditions.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to promote effective teamwork and patient experience.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse with post‑registration experience in an acute clinical environment.
• Commitment to acute cardiology and general medicine care.
• Demonstrated leadership knowledge and the ability to manage busy, high‑turnover wards.
• Interest or experience in service‑improvement projects.
• Willingness to work full‑time 12.5‑hour shifts covering days, nights and weekends.
