Real Estate Accountant with QuickBooks Experience

About the role

Howard Financial is seeking a detail‑oriented accountant with real‑estate experience to support multiple high‑growth clients. Working as an independent contractor, you will deliver accurate month‑end close, reporting and financial analysis while collaborating with both client stakeholders and internal teams.

Key responsibilities

• Manage full‑cycle accounting for several clients, including accounts payable/receivable, bank and credit‑card reconciliations, and month‑end close.
• Prepare, review and analyze monthly financial statements, management reports, budgets and cash‑flow forecasts.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and address any discrepancies promptly.
• Perform job costing, project accounting and budget‑to‑actual variance analysis as required.
• Support tax compliance by preparing documentation and coordinating with external tax advisors.
• Build and maintain strong relationships with client stakeholders, providing insights to improve financial operations.
• Identify and implement process improvements and internal controls to increase accuracy and scalability.

Required profile

• Minimum 3 years of accounting experience; real‑estate industry experience preferred.
• Strong knowledge of accounting principles and attention to detail.
• Fluent English (B2 +), comfortable communicating with high‑profile clients.
• Ability to thrive in a fast‑paced environment with a growth mindset.
• Availability 9 AM–5 PM EST, Monday‑Friday, working as an independent contractor.

Required skills

• QuickBooks (QBO) proficiency.
• Advanced Excel skills.
